Ethical and compliant behavior that reflects our community’s values is essential to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of our community. It is important for the well-being of all who are involved with the University as well as the well-being of the University. In fact, voicing your concerns is a gift to the University.

To encourage individuals to voice their concerns, Harvard University established the reporting hotline and website which provides the opportunity to report concerns in an anonymous manner. This hotline may be used to report a variety of ethical, integrity, safety, security, and compliance concerns and may be used by anyone including, but not limited to, students, faculty, postdocs, staff, patients, vendors, contractors and visitors, anywhere in the world.

The Anonymous Reporting Hotline operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and is run by an independent, third-party provider. There are two ways to report: toll-free by calling 877- 694-2275 or you can submit a report online.

Before submitting a report, please read ABOUT THE HOTLINE to better understand the reporting process, including information regarding non-retaliation and confidentiality.

The Hotline is meant for reporting of issues in situations where you don't feel comfortable speaking with a supervisor or other resource. Any concerns may be raised through the Hotline including, but not limited to:

  • Academic/research misconduct
  • Bias-related1 incidents
  • Conflicts of interest
  • Environmental health and safety concerns
  • Fraud/theft
  • Human resources concerns
  • Inappropriate patient care
  • Medical, safety, and security concerns
  • Misuse of University resources/assets
  • Philanthropy and Donor Relations
  • Violations of law, regulation, contract, or University policy
  • Suspected abuse or neglect or other inappropriate activity involving minors in Harvard programs (please note: the preferred reporting method is direct via the Harvard University Police Department at (617) 495-1212; additional resources can be found at youthprotection.harvard.edu)
1 The term “bias-related” refers to language and/or behaviors which demonstrate a bias against persons because of, but not limited to, others’ actual or perceived: color, race, ethnicity, national origin, veteran status, age, disability, health condition, religion, and/or political beliefs.

Disclosing concerns related to sexual harassment, other sexual misconduct, and gender-based discrimination

You may submit anonymous disclosures of sexual harassment or other sexual misconduct to the Office for Gender Equity (OGE) by using the Resource for Online Anonymous Disclosures (ROAD). Through the ROAD, you may share a concern, communicate with a member of OGE, and access resources without revealing your identity.

The ROAD provides an online form for disclosing concerns; this form is hosted by an independent, third-party vendor who provides secure, anonymous reporting services. The vendor is contractually committed to preserve your anonymity and not pursue your identity.

If you are unable to access the ROAD for any reason, you may still anonymously submit a disclosure to OGE. To do so by phone, you may call OGE at (617) 496-0200 from a blocked number and withhold your name when you speak with one of our staff. To do so by email, you may email OGE at oge@harvard.edu from an email address that does not contain personally identifying information. You may share as much or as little information as you feel comfortable.

To learn more about the ROAD, visit: oge.harvard.edu/disclose. For information about the many supports offered by the Office for Gender Equity, visit: oge.harvard.edu.
